Running in the Rain

So 144 days until the Wine and Dine...  I'm actually having dreams about it pretty much every night.  Pumped?  You bet.

Last week was such a terrible week for training.  The end of school, being sick, and a project or event every night of the week...  I was lucky to get out the one day I did get out.  I was ready to get out today, nearly a week after my last run.  I was really starting to miss getting out.

The problem?  It started raining.  Not just raining, but pouring.  And cold.  It would figure, right?

I'm proud to say that I sucked it up and hit the trail anyway.  That's what they make waterproof jackets for, right?  I will be honest...  I was aiming for an ambitious 6 miles, but after the rain went from steady to drenching, I just wanted to "do my time," run the 30 minutes that Jeff Galloway's program said I needed to run today, and call it a day.  I ended up feeling so good during the run, and having such great times, we ended up going for 2 miles before the rain got the best of us and we turned back.

Total run for the day?  4.17 miles, with an average of 12'49" per mile.  Maybe running in the rain is the secret?  I shaved 7 seconds off my best mile average, and this run was blessedly cramp-free.  After getting horrible side and back cramps on my last several runs, including one on my last run that started at less then a mile in, I was starting to get nervous...
